Extinction

Pangea Prima and Pangea Ultima: our world as it was 250 million years ago and how it is predicted to be 250 million years from now.  Around the border is a timeline of life on this strange blue ball.  The timeline is expanded to give a perspective of how short our time here has been.  If the timeline were linear and fit around the border, all human evolution and consequent history would take up the last millimeter. Original is ink, illustration marker, tea, wine, and coal on watercolor paper, 15 x 22.  Prints are available at full size, as well as scaled down for ease of framing.

There have been mass extinctions before and there will be again.  The continents will move whether or not anything lives to see it. It is not about our experience.  The border is filled with vague Lovecraftian horrors.  I resisted staining this with my actual blood... that's just asking for trouble.
